Tate Yap
Tate Yap was born in Guelph, Ontario. He has 1 older brother, Tristen, also an actor, and his parents are Cynthia and Chun-Hun (Sly) Yap.
Tate, a native of Cambridge, Ontario, has been performing from the tender young age of 6 making his first appearance on stage in The Browns Children Theatre production of Peter Pan as Smee.
Since then, he has accumulated numerous credits for both film and theatre where he as really honed his craft. Tate was presented his first award in the 48 Hour Film Project Toronto 2012 for Best Actor. He has been consistently commended by the directors and producers of his career for his ability to stay in character and the gravity in which he takes on his roles. As quoted by one of the directors of the 48 Hour Film Project, "Tate is an old soul, he is a 35 year old actor trapped in an 11 year old body"
His mother acted as his agent up until Dec 2013 when he signed with AMI Agency. His first breakthrough after signing with his agent was for the role of Jerome in South Pacific, Drayton Entertainment production.
