Aalok Mehta

Aalok Sharad Mehta was born and raised in NJ. He also spent time in India during his childhood and fell in love with Indian music and culture. He is fluent in conversational Gujarati. In high school he was a first team all-state tennis player. He went on to play tennis at TCNJ and then began a career as a musician. He studied Indian Classical Music on Sitar under the tutelage of his esteemed guru Pandit Nayan Ghosh at the renowned Sangit Mahabharati in Mumbai, India. He has had the honor of working on TV, Film, Theatre, and Commercials. His debut film, which he scored and starred in as the lead, American Chai, was the recipient of the Slamdance and GenArt Film Festival Audience Awards. He created the role of Salim in on Broadway in the original cast of Lord Andrew Lloyd Weber and AR Rahman's Bombay Dreams. He met his wife Anisha Nagarajan while working on Bombay Dreams. They have two children. Other credits include The Jay Leno Show (NBC), Joey (NBC), 30 Rock (NBC), The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS), NCIS LA (CBS), Law & Order SVU (NBC), Bones (FOX), Outsourced (NBC), Rules of Engagement (CBS), and Happy Endings (ABC), to name a few. He appears as the recurring role of Barnaby on the highest budget crowd-funded project of all time The Chosen and in the feature film Dr. Brinks & Dr. Brinks on Amazon Prime. Aalok has acted in dozens of national network commercials (Geico, Coke, Toyota, Mini Cooper, AT&T, GE, HP, Kia, Miller Genuine Draft, Bank Of America, TD Ameritrade, Chase, Campbells, and many more).
