G. Scott Paterson

G. Scott Paterson is a Canadian technology/media venture capitalist who also acts and produces part-time. He is best known for his work on Ice Girls (2016), A Fighting Man (2014), Breakout (2013), A Dark Truth (2012), and Sexy Evil Genius (2013). Born on January 11, 1964 in Ontario, Canada, Paterson has spent most of his professional career working as an investment banker financing technology, internet, media and film companies. Mr. Paterson also served as Vice Chair of the Toronto Stock Exchange and is regarded as having financed in his career more technology companies than anyone in Canadian history. While Chair and CEO of Yorkton Securities in late 90s, Paterson led the Canadian brokerage to become the lead underwriter for many leading Canadian entertainment companies including Alliance, Nelvanna, Atlantis, Salter Street Films and Lions Gate Entertainment, among others. In 1997, PAterson was invited by Lions Gate Entertainment founder Frank Giustra to be the second investor in the company when he founded the film production company. Paterson served as a Lionsgate Board member for 21 year including as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for 15 years and today serves as a Director of Lions Gate Entertainment Canada Corp. Mr. Paterson co-founded JumpTV Inc in 2005, orchestrated as Chair and CEO, the company's 2006 $71 million IPO led by Morgan Stanley, merger the company with Neulion Inc in 2008 remaining as Vice Chair. Neulion/JumpTV was sold to Endeavor Group Holdings in 2018 for $250 million. In 2014, Mr. Paterson co-founded Los Angeles-based QYOU Medic Inc., a leader in the curation of short form content, where he serves as Chair of the Board. Mr. Paterson has also served as a Board member of the Canadian Film Centre's Idea Boost Program. Having worked so closely with Lionsgate and serving, on occasion, as an associate/executive producer on a number of films, unaffiliated with Lionsgate, Paterson has had the unique opportunity to observe first-hand the evolution of film production process from script to screen. Paterson's fascination with the industry has grown over the years to include experimenting in small talent roles with a view to appreciating all aspects of the business. In 2012, Paterson formed a small voice over role in the thriller 'A Dark Truth', staring Andy Garcia and Forrest Whitaker. Paterson gained further experience with a small acting role in 'Breakout' which stared Brendan Fraser. That same year, he became a member of ACTRA, Canada's union for actors. In 2014, Paterson had a small role in 'A Fighting Man', starring Dominic Purcell and James Caan. In 2016, he portrayed the rink announcer alongside Canadian Gold Medal Olympian Tess Virtue in 'Ice Girls'.
