Rafe Soule

Rafe Soule

Rafe Soule was born in Cape Town, South Africa. Born to an American mother and South African father, he spent his childhood living in between Cape Town and the north shore of Boston, Massachusetts. His mother is a journalist and novelist, and his father has worked as a mediator during peace negotiations in several war torn countries. They have always supported his artistic endeavors, and bought him his first guitar at the age of 11. After playing for a few years Rafe eventually began making guest appearances with the local blues musicians of Cape Town. He says "music defined my childhood" as he always wanted to be on stage. Then, at the age of 14, he started acting. This was due to his attendance at Michael Oak Waldorf School. In his second year his class performed 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' with a vigorous nine month rehearsal time. Regardless of having no desire to act, the audition was compulsory. He was casted as Valentine, one of the gentlemen. By the end of the production, Rafe had discovered his interest in theatre. Rafe continued to study drama in and outside of school. When he graduated, he moved into downtown Cape Town, and began working as a model and acted in student films. After gaining a reputation as a promising actor from his peers, he decided to move to New York City. He applied and was accepted into the Lee Strasberg Institute. After the first year, he applied for the Vincent D'Onofrio scholarship to continue his studies, and was awarded a full time scholarship. With intense work on classic plays (Tennessee Williams, Shakespeare, and Clifford Odets etc) under his belt, he began working in New York City. Since 2017 Rafe has acted in feature films, commercials, webseries, and short films. He is currently working in Cape Town, South Africa.
